Vaping and driving: Some safety guidelines to follow

vaping while driving

One of the many conveniences of vaping is that its lush aroma doesn’t linger or cling to surrounding materials. This makes it super desirable when you want to save time by vaping in your car on your way to work, or whenever your nicotine craving comes knocking at your door. Needless to say, vaping while driving, although an advantageous time-saver, can be reckless and distracting. By following these simple guidelines, you’ll be in a suitable position to avoid any potential pitfalls that could occur while you are enjoying your favorite past-time.

Is it illegal to vape while driving?

There are no current laws that exist that are specifically directed towards vaping while driving. Although, just like taking a bite of your breakfast while in traffic or fiddling with your radio in order to switch between stations, careless driving is illegal. Be sure to keep your eyes on the road and a hand on the wheel, so, just like drinking your morning coffee, you’ll be alert and aware while you’re driving.

Avoid an obstructed windshield

Visibility is incredibly important when you’re driving. Make sure that while you’re vaping, a window is cracked to allow the vapor to escape. Also, there is no need to cloud-chase — blow large clouds of vapor — as this could unnecessarily obstruct your view.

Don’t vape with kids in the car

Most states in the United States have enacted laws that prohibit vaping while driving in cars with children. Electronic cigarettes are, in many states, classified under the same category as tobacco. Although educated vapers know that e-cigs don’t actually contain any tobacco and some product lines, such as True Puffs, offer nicotine free e-cigs. Yet, it’s best to avoid the fine and respect the law.

Don’t drive carelessly or recklessly while vaping

If you decide to vape while you drive, be sure that your device is ready to go. Don’t try popping in a new flavor capsule or attempting to find your e-cig charger if the battery is dead. This could endanger you, your passengers and others on the road, as well as being classified as careless driving. Moreover, make sure that you follow the rules of the road and avoid speeding with your e-cig in hand — operating a vehicle at a high speed should involve the use of both your hands. Ideally, take a puff when your vehicle is completely stopped.

As long as you’re smart, responsible and follow the rules of driving, generally speaking, vaping while driving can offer you endless benefits of convenience.
