Quitting combustible cigarettes is an issue that many people around the world face, including millions of Americans. While there are various smoking cessation aids on the market offering strategic ways to stop the habit, each smoker is different and they may require more time or a combination of tools to wave goodbye to tobacco for good. This study exposes West Virginians as the third state in America who’re most willing to stop smoking. Let’s learn more about how we know that below.
The study
Google keyword research conducted by the nicotine pouch—a relatively new oral nicotine product that is placed in the mouth of the user to slowly release nicotine and flavorings similarly like other nicotine replacement therapies—brand Snussboss highlighted the terms and how many times they have been searched by all 50 states. Queries like “quitting smoking”, “how to quit smoking”, “vaping”, “nicotine patches, and “stop smoking” were among the most used search terms.
What were the results?
People residing in West Virginia were third for searches with a total of 1,441 terms over 12 months. This reveals an average monthly total of 81 searches per 100,000 people.
Virginia and Kansas were just above West Virginia in first and second place for searches, while Massachusetts and New York were just below in fourth and fifth place for searches.
What does this mean for the future of smoking cessation aids?
Well, this means that with so many people seeking ways to quit smoking across the U.S., companies who sell smoking cessation aids need to take initiative and make sure that they attempt to reach those who need them most. Since e-cigs fit within the classification of smoking cessation aids, we’re doing our part as well to make sure those looking to quit smoking find us and our products. Happy shopping!
Have you ever Googled any of the above search terms? If so, did you find what you were looking for?
