Vape Mail Ban Comment Period is Open

On December 27th, 2020, an Appropriation bill was signed into law,  which contained a provision banning the shipment of vapor products through the US Postal Service (USPS). Following, the USPS posted its proposed rule in the Federal Register on February 19, 2021, leaving it open to comment until March 22, 2021. Since shipping regulations present a challenge for those who rely on e-cigs to remain smoke-free, this is your final opportunity to let your voice be heard in opposition to banning vape product delivery by mail. This complicates matters for e-cig manufacturers and independent vapor retailers as they will struggle to find future shipping carriers, especially for order fulfillments in smaller, rural communities.

The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association (CASAA) is calling on vapers to submit a comment on the proposed vape mail ban while the USPS commentary period is open. As the USPS intends to add vaping products to its existing cigarette and smokeless tobacco mailing rules, our community needs to act now and take action against regulations that will greatly affect the ability to remain smoke-free.

What can you do?

Action #1 – USPS Comment

  • Enter your information using the following link: CASAA needs a few pieces of information to direct your comment and ensure that it’s delivered to the USPS.
  • Compose your message: This is where you will write how this law will affect you. Tell your story!
  • Send a second email to your federal lawmakers: Remember to include that vaping has allowed you to switch to safer nicotine products.

Action #2 – Message to Congress

  • Re-enter your information in the second action box: This will be delivered to your members of Congress.
  • Compose your message: Utilize the structure of the pre-written message, but remember to add more details about your personal experience with vaping.

*All of the above steps can be easily completed by clicking on the following link.

PLEASE NOTE:

CASAA has been made aware that some lawmakers are refusing to acknowledge the validity of organized consumer campaigns, and are insisting their constituents contact them directly via their website. Therefore, we also recommend that you copy and paste your comments and fill out the contact form on your lawmaker’s website. You can find their website by using this Legislator Lookup tool.
